Welcome
to the Rankins Farm Website |
| |
 | RANKINS
FARM is situated on the A229 in Linton.
Linton is possibly one of the
smallest village in Kent, it straggles along the A229 on the south facing hill
between Staplehurst and Maidstone.
The village provided labour to the
quarry which is to be found in nearby Boughton Monchelsea, but has grown up from
the 1700's to provide living quarters for the workers on Linton Place.
Rankins
Farm has been farmed by The Sunnucks family since 1965. |
|
| |
|
Lord Cornwallis who lived at Linton Park once owned the farm. Lord Cornwallis
was a kind and charitable man who let his tenants buy their farms for much less
than they were worth. The Sunnucks now enjoy extending that same level of hospitality
to their holiday guests that stay in The Old Wagon Lodge and the many customers
that visit their Farm Shop to buy locally grown produce. |
| |
The
farm is 250 acres of which 53 are apples both dessert and cooking, 50 pears, 25
plums, 10 rhubarb and 12 raspberries, the remainder of the acreage is pasture.
There is cold storage for 500 tons of fruit and we pack all of our own fruit for
supermarkets such as Tescos, Sainsburys and Morrisons, we also supply the wholesale
market and local farm shops as well as our own shop on the farm.
The packhouse
is located on the farm and forms part of the integrated grow and supply service. | | |

|
|
|
| |
The
farm shop offers a wide range of locally grown produce within a few yards of The
Old Wagon Lodge. |
| |

Sunnucks family are pioneers in developing new farming techniques and through
a partnership with Orchard World have established some revolutionary methods for
